I think I’ve read somewhere that in California (of course!) they’re already giving trans people a free handout of some sort.

I think there are plans to do that. Not sure if it has happened yet. It would be a great incentive to millions to arrive in California and announce themselves “transgendered”. Where the money will come from, when California is hugely in debt and already grossly overtaxed, no one can say.
