Ukraine-Russia War May Soon Be Ended by President Trump

On Friday March 7, 2025, Trump threatened new sanctions and tariffs against Russia if Putin did not agree to peace talks.

His threats to withdraw all support from Ukraine, and his quick suspension of aid, had quickly brought Zelensky to change his obstinate stance and agree to negotiate peace with Russia under Trump’s oversight.

Quote:
Ukraine has agreed to an immediate 30-day ceasefire negotiated by the United States if Russia also accepts the plan, officials announced Tuesday [March 11, 2025].

Quote:
“We agree with the proposals to halt the fighting, but we proceed from the assumption that the ceasefire should lead to lasting peace and remove the root causes of the crisis,” Putin said [today, March 13, 2025].

From the linked article:
President Donald Trump had a “good and productive” conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday [March 13, 2025] and is optimistic that an end to the war in Ukraine could be on the horizon.

Trump, in a Friday post on Truth Social, said he and his team “had very good and productive discussions with President Vladimir Putin of Russia yesterday, and there is a very good chance that this horrible, bloody war can finally come to an end.”

However, he noted that Russian troops have surrounded Ukrainian forces and put them “IN A VERY BAD AND VULNERABLE POSITION”.

Trump has strongly requested President Putin to spare their lives. “This would be a horrible massacre, not seen since World War II.”

It sounds like Russia’s terms for a deal are basically the same as they were at first - no NATO membership for Ukraine and recognition of territories Russia has already taken.
If Trump had been President when it started he would have worked out a deal based on that, as he is doing now, and the war, with all the loss of life, could have been avoided.
Biden chose not to, and purposely rejected a treaty both parties had agreed to after it started.
You can be sure that when the most corrupt politicians in history champion a war as enthusiastically as they did, it’s for completely corrupt reasons.
