The one-sided presumption of guilt for "misinformation" and "disinformation"

An excerpt from the White House press briefing of 12 August 2024, with a Washington Post reporter asking Karine Jean-Pierre about the Trump and Musk meeting on Twitter and what the White House was doing to combat the spread of misinformation and disinformation that would result from such a historic meeting of minds…

WaPo reporter: Elon Musk is slated to interview Donald Trump tomor- – tonight on – on X. I don’t know if the president is going to tune in. Feel free to say if he is or not. (Laughter.)

But I – I think that misinformation on Twitter is not just a campaign issue. It’s a – you know, it’s an America issue. What role does the White House or the president have in sort of stopping that or stopping the spread of that or sort of inter- – intervening in that?

Some of that was about campaign misinformation, but, you know, it’s a wider thing, right?

MS. JEAN-PIERRE: Yeah, no, and you’ve heard us talk about this many times from here, about the responsibilities that social media platforms have when it comes to misinformation, disinformation. Don’t have anything to read out from here about specific ways that we’re working on it. But we believe that – that they have the responsibility. These are private companies, so we – we’re also mindful of that too.

Thanks, Zerothruster.

Why such drivel as passes here between such klutzes on the Left enchants half the nation is a mystery as profound as why the universe exploded into existence (if it did).

Ammo Grrrll – always fun to read – writes today Friday August 23, 2024, at PowerLine:

Oh, let’s not forget the perfect crease David Brooks observed in Barack’s trousers. That’s what I look for in a candidate. I WOULD have voted for Hillary, but the crease in her pantsuit was kind of crumpled. Probably from her thighs rubbing together.

Yes, just amazing how one-sided it is.
Democrats are never found guilty of spreading “misinformation” - only those on the Right.
And Trump and Musk are presumed to be about to spread lies before their interview even takes place!
Free speech is fine until a conservative speaks, then it’s suddenly a “threat to our democracy”…
That should be a huge clue to everyone that the Left has something to hide, which it does - the fact that it’s entire existence is based on lies.
