The Helpfulness of High Prices

An excellent column by John Stossel, the libertarian with whom I often - but by no means always - agree.

Yes, the New York Post gets alot right, like Hunter’s laptop, but they get alot wrong, too.

He is right, most people have no clue how businesses have to operate.
I have 20,000’ of #6 THHN wire in my warehouse, that I purchased some months ago.
Should I enter that cost into my estimating program at what it cost me, or what it costs me to replace it? (75% more).
If 100 people are calling me to do electrical work, should I hold prices steady and only service the 10% I have capacity for; or should I double my price and serve only those who can, and will pay the extra.
Bear in mind I have to keep my team in place, if the contractor down the road starts paying $50.00 per hour because he has work to do at that rate, I had better follow or do better otherwise my guys are going to do the logical thing and go and work for him.
Stossel is right, people are clueless.
