Quote:
Accusing Israel of genocide and recognising a non-existent [“Palestinian”] state are the luxury beliefs of western foreign policy, elicited in response to misleading photographs on front pages and fake fatality statistics, and utterly divorced from strategic reality.
This is the very kind of thing Thomas Sowell discussed in his book Intellectuals and Society, intellectuals being defined as people whose only products are ideas, and who are insulated from seeing how their ideas work in the real world.
Yes, what incredible gullibilty to believe the lies and propaganda of terrorists who have openly declared their intent to murder Jews and destroy Israel.
I do believe that qualifies as genocide if carried out!
Using the tried and true Marxist playbook, they project their own evil onto their victims.
This should be glaringly obvious to all after the most recent (of many) examples of that evil being carried out in the Oct.7 massacre of Israeli civilians by Hamas, followed immediately - hardly before any retaliation had begun - with accusations by Hamas of Israel committing Nazi genocide against them!
As for the comparison here with the Ukraine/Russia conflict, I think there is a big difference between that and the Israel/Hamas conflict.
The Israel/Hamas conflict is a civilized democracy defending itself against barbaric terrorists.
You cannot - and should not - negotiate with terrorists. You must destroy them.
The Ukraine/Russia conflict is between two countries and could be ended through negotiation.
Russia did offer a peace treaty early on, but Ukraine (after the intervention of Boris Johnson) rejected it.
The war could have been averted then.
And certainly if Trump had been President he would have worked to avert it, rather than encourage it, as the Biden regime and Johnson did. But apparently now it’s beyond the point of return to that offer, even with Trump in the White House.
Trump, however, is now saying he will impose heavy sanctions on Russia, as the writer of this article recommends should be done. Hopefully it will have a positive effect toward ending the war.
Thank you for those comments, Liz.
I especially value: “As for the comparison here with the Ukraine/Russia conflict, I think there is a big difference between that and the Israel/Hamas conflict.”
That struck me as I read the article. It’s a most important fact about it.
As Bill Maher said recently, the leftists have to decide whether they support Western Civilization or Islamic terrorism. They have clearly chosen the latter. I would have said they are beyond redemption, but Maher seems to be evolving.
