The Durham Report Is Issued At Last

And tells us what we already know.

But will the perpetrators of the evil conspiracy against President Trump be indicted?

Quote:
Special Counsel John Durham, who was tapped by former Attorney General Bill Barr in May 2019 to get to the bottom of why the FBI launched a probe into the Trump 2016 campaign and Trump administration for “Russian collusion” has finally issued a 308-page report on the matter.
"The objective facts show that the FBI’s handling of important aspects of the Crossfire Hurricane matter were seriously deficient,” Durham wrote. “Based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane and related intelligence activities, we conclude that the (Justice) Department and FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report.”
During his lengthy investigation, Durham found the FBI should have never opened the investigations and that they were led by politically motivated actors like former FBI agent Peter Strzok.
"Neither U.S. [?] nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation," the report states. "FBI records prepared by Strzok in February and March 2017 show that at the time of the opening of Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI had no information in its holdings indicating that at any time anyone in the Trump [election campaign?] had been in contact with any Russian intelligence officials.”

Tens of millions of dollars have been squandered on long-drawn-out investigations, a series of elections have been distorted by the conspirators against Trump continuing to use the dirty misinformation about his having Russian contacts, and at last we are told - officially, as it were - that the accusations were nothing but a tissue of lies.

America needs to imprison the perpetrators.

Yes, it just confirms what we already knew, is way past the fact, and does nothing more than give them a verbal slap on the wrist. Big deal!
It will be ignored. Just like the Benghazi investigation.
And they’ve already committed so many worse crimes since then, that will most likely also be ignored, that it amounts to less than a blip on the radar. Don’t expect any arrests.

Yes, its the mildest possible rebuke. Hardly even a slap on the wrist. I agree with you, Liz, that there will be no arrests as a result of this report. It’s as if the immense harm done to the Trump administration - and to the country as a result of the conscienceless lies - were not a hugely destructive moral outrage, an undermining of the constitution, and a dark stain on the history of the United States.

Here’s more about the report:

Quote:
The special counsel’s report, however, “does not recommend any wholesale changes in the guidelines and policies that the [Justice] Department and the FBI now have in place to ensure proper conduct and accountability in how counterintelligence activities are carried out.”
The Durham report notes a continuing need for the FBI and the [Justice] Department to recognize that lack of analytical rigor, apparent confirmation bias, and an over-willigness to rely on information from individuals connected to political opponents caused investigators to fail to adequately consider alternative hypotheses and to act without appropriate objectivity or restraint in pursuing allegations of collusion or conspiracy between a U.S. political campaign and a foreign power.
[In contrast to this report]: Previously, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz found numerous problems with the Russia investigation in a report issued in 2019.
The new report acknowledges the benefit of hindsight, but says problems should have been clear to investigators.
“Although recognizing that in hindsight much is clearer, much of this also seems to have been clear at the time,” the Durham report says. “We therefore believe it is important to examine past conduct to identify shortcomings and improve how the government carries out its most sensitive functions.”
The report notes that investigative leads were based on Democrat-funded opposition research on Trump.
“In particular, there was significant reliance on investigative leads provided or funded (directly or indirectly) by Trump’s political opponents,” the report says. “The [Justice] Department did not adequately examine or question these materials and the motivations of those providing them, even when at about the same time the director of the FBI and others learned of significant and potentially contrary intelligence.”

Comment:
But no indictments! No one is to be punished for fraud, lying, election interference, obstructing justice … No one. It was wrong, it was bad, but shrug it off. Look at it this way: it has been a useful learning opportunity for the FBI and the DOJ. Thank you, Hillary! Thank you, Peter Strzok! Thank you Brennan, Clapper, Comey, Steele, and all the mischievous gang! Such jolly larks - but maybe you went a bit too far, if you don’t mind Durham saying so.

Steven Hayward writes with a nice sting of irony at PowerLine, “I wonder if any media organizations will give back the Pulitzers and other awards they gave to themselves for pumping up the Russia hoax.”

We won’t be listening for their apologies, we know they are never coming. There will be no begging for forgiveness, no turning over a new leaf and sincere promises to do all they can to help Trump get elected and implement his excellent policies.

We are inured to disappointment with the low mendacious media organizations.

Thanks for this link, Fiangol. Brennan has been one of the most persistent liars.

At least the Durham report totally and officially exonerates Trump.

Yes, but the result should be all of them in prison!
They’ve gotten away with murder - the murder of our Republic - so they don’t fear any consequences.
They expect everyone to look the other way and shut up, because we all know what happens to those who object, such as the J6 prisoners.

Durham documents double standards in investigative protocols, especially when it comes to the Clintons, but that’s where it effectively ends making the whole thing effectively meaningless.

Durham offers little that’s new. Who was pulling the strings above the level of some top FBI people? Does Durham seriously expect us to believe that the likes of Strzok or McCabe initiated all of this on their own because they hated Trump? What were the interfaces between the Clinton-Obama camps and the DOJ people? These are the really significant questions and, unsurprisingly, the report punts. Its goal is to clean up the FBI rather than to hold the political operatives behind the scenes accountable.

And there, much as I predicted over the years, it ends.

We’re back to “some people did something”.

Beyond the shamelessness of the media and the corruption of government officials, the Durham report is a sobering reminder that we can’t sustain a self-governing republic under these conditions. When the law enforcement and intelligence agencies of the federal government can be used as a weapon to undermine an outsider candidate for high office, it means our republic is in grave danger.
It means, too, that it would be better if we had no FBI at all than the corrupt agency we have now, which sees fit to traffic in actual disinformation, spread conspiracy theories, and throttle the democratic process whenever a candidate comes along who threatens the status quo. That’s the real lesson of the Durham report, and we ignore it at our peril.

Does it also mean that the Constitution, excellent as it is, is insufficient after all to sustain the nationhood of the union?

Here’s a reply to my question:

“Between the very real evidence of corruption the Republicans have exposed (and will continue to expose) and the devastating conclusions in the Durham report, the asymmetric application of the law in America can no longer be denied.
Will voters finally see what’s happening right in front of their eyes? Let’s hope so, because this is end of republic stuff. And America can’t survive it.”

I can’t find your question. Question about what?
Is this your question:
Does it also mean that the Constitution, excellent as it is, is insufficient after all to sustain the nationhood of the union?

Yes.That’s my question. I think the answer is yes.

The Constitution has failed to protect Americans from corrupt government (as revealed by the Durham report) and tyranny (as demonstrated by the imprisonment of peaceful demonstrators who entered the Capitol on January 6, 2021)?

The Constitution - excellent as it is - has not made cheating in elections impossible. I believe - as Trump does - that the Democratic Party cheated its way to power in 2020.

I very much value your opinion, Fiangol.

Durham showed that the FBI:

  • Framed Trump as a Russian spy.
  • Had no legal predicate to investigate the Trump campaign.
  • Practiced two-tiered justice, one for Trump and another for Clinton.
  • Knew Hillary Clinton’s foundation was a money-laundering racket.
  • Knew Hillary Clinton destroyed evidence and did nothing about it.
  • Knew Hillary Clinton was framing Trump to distract from her email scandal.
  • Didn’t perform the most basic functions of an investigation.
  • Lied to get a FISA warrant due to pressure from James Comey.
  • Interfered with the Durham investigation by paying Steele source Danchenko.
  • Hid evidence of Carter Page’s innocence from investigation and warrant application.
  • Purposely deprived Donald Trump, et. al., of their good names, reputations, and millions of dollars in legal fees.
  • Used its authority to ruin people’s lives.
  • Helped further what attorney and radio host Mark Levin termed a “soft coup.”

It’s hard to overstate the sickening corruption at the FBI in this case and what we’ve seen in the January 6 prosecutions.

Yes, and all of that, along with the impeachments, the censoring of the laptop, the election fraud, and the framing of the Jan.6 protesters, added up to the “soft-coup” culminating in Bidens “victory”.
Now, of course, the very people who have destroyed the Republic call us “a threat to democracy”.
The Constitution was unable to prevent the long march of Marxism partnered with corruption.
But I don’t think any other form of government could have, either.

I too can’t think of a form of government that could resist a sustained putsch by a strong authoritarian movement - except another authoritarian government.

Freedom by its nature can always be taken advantage of by its enemies who will use it to attain despotic power.

So are all peoples everywhere condemned to live mostly under tyrannical systems of government with at best an occasional interlude (sometimes lasting a century or two) of law-protected freedom?

Seems so!

Special Counsel Durham has spent millions in tax dollars to investigate the worst government corruption scandal in American history – the abuse of Trump – to little good end,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “That we had to file a federal lawsuit to get basic budget information about this historic investigation speaks volumes. And that the Garland DOJ is still hiding documents adds to the scandal.
Never in American history has so much government corruption faced so little accountability. Let me be clear, the FBI and Justice Department – and their political masters in the Obama White House – are responsible for the worst government corruption in American history. President Trump is a crime victim who was targeted by a seditious conspiracy by Obama, Biden, Clinton and their Deep State allies.

Yes, a seditious conspiracy by traitors.
And if they were willing to do that, they’d be willing to do all the rest - rig the election and stage the “insurrection”. But the worthless propagandists in the media will just keep on pushing the narrative that it was Trump who tried to interfere with the election.

Both the far-left New York Times and Washington Post refuse to return Pulitzers for spreading the lie former President Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election.
These corporate news outlets knew all along it was a hoax.
The corporate media knew it was being lied to by the FBI and wanted to be lied to by the FBI.
In other words, the media’s goal had nothing to do with the truth and everything to do with coordinating a coup with the FBI against a legally-elected American president.
The lies were the point. Why would the Post or Times return a fake Pulitzer for lying? Why would CNN retract its lies when the point of the lies stands: work with the FBI to formulate a coup against a sitting president?
Retractions and returning fake Pulitzers are acts of contrition, an acknowledgment you did something wrong.
The Times, Post, and CNN will never admit to doing anything wrong because, in their corrupt eyes, they did nothing wrong. Spreading bald-faced lies to rid the country of Trump is seen by the corporate media as virtuous, not shameful.
To them, the goal of an America living under centralized government fascism is so moral that anything done to further that goal is moral.
It is insane to believe that news organizations championing burning black neighborhoods to the ground, the execution of police officers, the underage sex trafficking and poison of drugs pouring over our border, children mutilated forever with sex surgeries, and babies “aborted” after they are born, would even consider returning a fake Pulitzer over a little thing like lying.
Oh, you think that’s going too far…? These Nazis are mutilating children, butchering born-alive babies, spying on presidential campaigns, encouraging their Brownshirts in Black Lives Matter and Antifa to terrorize and destroy cities, and turned a mostly-peaceful anti-vote fraud protest at the U.S. Capitol into a 21st Century Reichstag Fire.
Return a fake Pulitzer? Wake up. Do you have any idea about the monsters we are dealing with?

Exactly right - the monsters we are dealing with, and their minions in the press, are proud of the coup they pulled off with their “Reichstag Fire” on Jan. 6, of the centralized government fascism they established, and of the monstrous, destructive insanity they are now forcing on us.
They are every bit as evil as the Nazis.
