The always provocative Steyn asks some questions

What do you yourself think of the article, Cogito?

Does it make consistent sense to you?

What is he getting at?

I admired Mark Steyn for many years but it seems to me that he is now unsure of his own position.

It may be that I am simply missing his point. But I don’t know what his point is.

I was delighted when Trump agreed with Netanyahu that Iran’s military installations must be destroyed, and they went ahead and destroyed them.

I think I understand him. He’s saying that the US has not won a war since WWII. It’s military record is horrible. Most military authorities would agree with him that air wars are never successful, except for the atomic bombs used against Japan. He’s saying that we have been down this road before with wars in the Middle East. They never end. I am not unsympathetic with these views, but time will tell if Steyn is correct or not.

Yes, not sure but he seems to be having doubts about it. To me the goal of destroying terrorists and fanatical Muslim extremists - who may have nukes and want to destroy us - is obviously needed.
The problem is, they’re so fanatical that they refuse to admit defeat, and apparently plan to take their entire country, and those around it, down with them.

I think this, perhaps, illustrates Steyn’s dilemma. Why are we worried about Iran, China, Russia when this is going on in our own nations now? This is the issue -Islam in the West.

Okay, but isn’t Islam in the West sustained by Islam in the Middle and Far East and Africa? As well as by idiot governments in Europe, including most of those that call themselves conservative?

We will defeat Iran, but … China? Russia? The Left?

Isn’t it the same old war between Freedom and Tyranny? And isn’t it about to be an AI war? I feel troubled for my descendants.

Yes, exactly! Iran is the worlds biggest funder of terrorism. So eliminating them would eliminate much of the worlds terrorism, and cripple the funding of the Islamic invasion of the West.
It would also weaken their allies, China and Russia.

Point taken, but my concern is that, even if Iran is obliterated from the face of the earth, we will still have a moslem immigration problem, unless ALL immigration from moslem countries is stopped.

We definitely need to do that too.

Here’s Steyn today:

I find it increasingly difficult to disagree with him.

Please tell me, Cogito, what is his point?

Disappointing, since I really like Steyn, but I disagree with him on this. He doesn’t seem to think that there’s any point to the war, and that the outcome will be no better than Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
I guess he doesn’t think that terrorists with nukes are a big deal.

I am in complete agreement with you, Liz.

Cogito, maybe I have missed something. Tell me your thoughts on this. I do respect your reactions, but this article of his baffles me.

I don’t disagree with you. If anyone can do this, it is Trump. I hope he sees this through to the necessary end. But I take Steyn’s point. I believe he argues that the Home Front is more important. - the islamification of America and the entire West. Did you see the videos of the moslems praying Times Square and Trafalgar Square? I think he would say that, even if Iran were obliterated by Trump, we would still be faced with the implacable advance of islam in our countries. His thoughts bear consideration.
Having said that, it is only 21 days into this conflict, and great successes have been achieved.
I append Conrad Black’s column:

Thank you. He seems to be saying much more than that, but that at least I now see.

Indeed, he says much more than that, but that I believe is the kernel of it all. A friend is a member of the Mark Steyn Club, and she tells me he is taking a lot of heat for his stance.

This is Mark Steyn’s argument, I believe. He says the real battle is on the Home Front, where the Islamic cancer is rapidly and soon irreversibly metastasizing. The videos of moslems, taking over Trafalgar Square and Times Square to pray, are haunting me. Consider that that NYC, 25 years after 9/11, has a moslem mayor.
Even if Iran were annihilated, the West would still face this unrelenting problem.
My preference, of course, would be to deal with both.

Yes, definitely both need to be dealt with.
Thanks to the Marxists who paved the way for them by infiltrating all our institutions and demoralizing us by poisoning our culture, then opening the floodgates for their invasion, they’ve gotten close to dominance in record time.
I just saw a clip of Tucker Carlson saying that he despises how “self-hating” Westerners are, and enjoys being in Islamic countries because they’re so positive about themselves!
Of course he fails to mention WHY we are self-hating - because of Marxist brainwashing and mind-control - just that he despises it, and Muslims are great. His “stealth” role in the Marxist/Islamist crusade to destroy the West becomes more obvious every day.

I refuse to watch or listen to anything Tucker/Candace/Megyn say. They are hideous.
