I understand their wanting to flee Islamized Germany. But why do they choose to go to Paraguay? Uruguay would be by far a better choice.

It shows the Muslims there cheering for Hitler - if only Hitler had thought of importing them! - he could have solved his “Jewish problem” without using gas chambers. Just let the Muslims at them.
But he probably wouldn’t have liked the “raping of German women” problem that would have replaced it.

South America has long been an emigration destination of choice for Germans. Their communities exist in most SA countries but particularly Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia and Paraguay. Unfortunately the German influence in SA has never matched the anglo influence in NA, and the dominant Spanish and Portugese conquest brought with it the Catholic Church and all it’s baleful power.

Oh yeah, I heard that after WW2 the Nazi war criminals fled to South American countries for refuge to avoid being prosecuted for war crimes.

Yes, many did, and were sheltered by the German communities. Adolph Eichman was kidnapped in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Others were recruited by the US particularly and lived extremely well in the US, mainly working on the military jet propulsion program.
