That’s a good one! When you look at it that way, it’s hard to fathom how belief in an all beneficent god has survived for so long.

And yet it raises again the question of the complexity of human nature. Most atheists of the first rank such as Dawkins and Fry are Trump haters and leftwing politically on all issues. And many conservatives are undoubtedly Christian of one sort or another. This confounds me still.
