In case you don’t know, foreign countries own a lot of our farmland, use our ag benefits and farm plans…and rarely keep the produce here, but send it back to feed their people.
In a similar vein, poultry producers (and probably other meat producers) are becoming beholden to giant CAFOs (concentrated animal feedlot operations) built and owned by foreign elites, using the companies upfront money to pay for much of the operation, hiring Mexicans (in our locale) paying them little, allowing them to “live” in a house or two on the premises, and probably doing so to have tax write-offs, as the operation may or may not make a profit. That kind of strength in numbers influences our meat producing companies…and hurts US family farms in subtle, but meaningful ways.
