Yes, although it created alot of hardship for the pilgrims, I’m thankful we have that example now to illustrate the failure of collectivism. If only it were more widely taught.
Of note is that they based that experiment in collectivism on the idea from scripture that the first believers “held all things in common”, so it highlights the fact that Christianity contributed to the stream of collectivist thought.
Luckily for America, though, they learned from their mistake (unlike most collectivists).
