The collapse of these towers marked the beginning of the collapse of the country.
I can’t say to what extent the government was involved in the attacks, although at the very least, their incompetence in failing to prevent it is mind boggling - but we do know that the corruption we see displayed in it now goes back to well before the attacks, and has brought about our decline and fall.

And the atrocity was a profoundly religious act.
