A scientist told me that homosexuality is “natural” in that it is found among animals and birds - geese, for instance - but no one has yet proposed a plausible theory for its usefulness to evolution.

Yes, the theory he proposes for that doesn’t sound plausible to me. And I’m still not convinced that any species of animals actually have them naturally.
There could be other explanations for that behavior.
But I’m not a scientist…
