The escalation was inevitable, since Trudeau refused to listen to reason and rescind the mandate. Since the truckers have also refused to back down, now - to save his pride - he’s got to go full dictator and clamp down on them.
Now Canada will have a prison full of political prisoners just like the ones in the D.C. jail, who’s businesses are ruined and families are devastated.

Trudeau won the last election in 2021 and now heads a minority government. This means that he failed to win a majority of seats in Parliament, so can only govern with the support of two other leftwing parties. As long as he has the backing of these other parties, we may be stuck with him for 3-4 more years. Canada cannot survive.

Yes, you paint a fearful vision of the future. The US has DeSantis and Trump who are both devoted to the principle of individual liberty so cherished by the American Founders. Well this is weird - now there are people who got arrested who are saying they were driven about 20 minutes away from the protest and then released!
So possibly the police have been ordered to arrest people as an intimidation tactic, but are not legally able to keep them in jail? Seems like these people could possibly sue the government for unlawful arrest, or something, then.
