I guess “better late than never”?
But they’ve already lost credibility and respect.
At this point - too late to do anyone much good - my assumption is that they are just trying to cover their fraudulent trail, which probably leads to monetary connections to the Pharma/government complex.

I hope it’s more because they see the political writing on the wall, rather than a sudden lurch towards intellectual integrity. If they had any of that, they would not have come so late to the party. Expect such academic journals to have already been captured by the radical left. This may be their covering of tracks, and of their ass.
