A new poll has found that a majority of voters who chose former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election are in favor of a national divorce, while roughly four in ten voters for President Joe Biden are in favor of the same idea.
One would of course have to be living under a rock to be unaware of the cultural and political divide in the country. Have you ever seen such partisan division?
When polled about the idea of separating into two distinct countries, a stunning number of Americans are in favor of splitting up.

I’d like to live in a country without leftists, but I just don’t see how secession would actually work.
We should just ban the cult of Leftism, just like Russia just banned the church of Scientology.

Just to be clear I think I better say that by upvoting I wasn’t necessarily agreeing that we should “ban” leftism. We do need to have a pretty radical re-think of everything though IMHO, something is fundamentally wrong with modern Western “democracy”, I think the events since 2020 leave no room for doubt about that.

The UK is more divided now for very different reasons (mainly Blair’s devolution agenda), but all regions are heavily under the control of technocrats and leftists. An alternative idea that is being mentioned a fair bit here is not so much secession as a sort of civil disobedience, the emergence of networks of people and businesses that simply refuse to participate in the new dystopian technocratic nanny pharma-state. In a similar way the black market arose in the Soviet Union.

Yes, I’ve heard the “Civil disobedience” idea, too.
But I don’t see how that will work, either, without alot more incarceration of political prisoners.
The thing is, the Left used it on the “establishment” back in the 60’s, and it worked.
Us using it on them will be quite a different matter, because when in power, they are not going to put up with it. Our FBI is now the KGB.

There are different types of civil disobedience, including less confrontational approaches. Small workplaces simply not enforcing mask mandates and vaccine mandates for example.

Yes, those are happening, thankfully. And in that sense, I can also see a kind of de facto secession taking place, too.
