Iran still does aim to become a nuclear power. “Biden” - i.e. Obama - wants to help it.

Right - why is this spoken in the past tense?
They did, and still do, aim to create it, and drop it on “the Great Satan”, with the help of our even worse enemies, Obama and Biden.
