How to deal with the extreme religious conservative type?

Ok, I’m new here, I’ve been enjoying what I’ve been reading. I have conservative values I think, I value health, free speech and liberty but I am a radical atheist who adheres by the scientific method. I despise the propaganda of the MSM and I am very happy about Trump’s win.

There is one thing though that I can’t let go, my deep disdain for religious people. People that don’t believe in evolution, people that think a creator is responsible for the good things but never blame him for the bad things and invoke demons and irrational things that have zero evidence.

Of course we all know most conservatives people are religious so I find myself in between woke lunacy and religious nonsense (to be polite). Let me just say, it is very lonely in the middle. I always get disappointed when talking to religious people because they ALWAYS bring up god or jesus, it boggles my mind. This is the only place I found that seems to fit me, so I ask this: how do you deal with the religious type ?

Thank you for listening and I hope I’m at the right place.

Welcome M4x! Thanks for your praise, opinions, and question.

How do I deal with the religious type? Have I needed to? He (or she) doesn’t seem to want to come here. I suppose it would depend on what he actually says, whether I’d argue with him or dismiss him. And who he is would matter too. Ayaan Hirsi Ali turning Christian really annoyed me because I admire her intellect, character, and history.

I too hope you are at the right place.

Thanks for your reply, I guess it’s a bit my own fault as I really enjoy and spend a lot of time on pro trump forums and atheists forums on the internet.

When I go to pro trump forums it is inevitable that I see ‘‘Christ is king’’ comments or anything god related, I agree with most of his policies but cringe anytime I hear anything god. When I go to atheists forums it is inevitable that I see ‘‘Trump is literally hitler/racist’’ comments or still today fake news debunked for many years now.

Trump isn’t racist and god isn’t real either haha

Like I said, I feel lonely in the center and I guess I’m wondering if anyone else feels a conundrum with being atheist and a conservative ?

Thank ‘god’ I found this place and thanks for being sane !

I can totally relate to the conundrum.
It is frustrating to agree morally and politically with people, but not religiously.
As you note, believers naturally tend to insert religion into everything, which is not only annoying, but counterproductive in any argument against the leftist ideology and agenda.
But in my experience, being from a Christian background, with Christian friends, I understand that the things we agree on far outweigh the one disagreement, and it isn’t worth destroying a friendship just to win an argument over religion.
We need to focus on being as united as we can against our real enemy - the left.
