They’re brainwashed. They want them to be real for the same reasons that the charlatans who promote the hoax want them to be believed. Pretext for dismantling the petrochemical industry - a major step in dismantling America. Buttigieg’s mission as Secretary of Transportation is to bring everything to a standstill - made all the easier by Granholm’s mission as Secretary of Energy, to deprive us of oil and gas.

But the Why remains.
Because they (Buttigieg, Granholm et al) are fools will not suffice.
Because they are evil does better.

I didn’t mean to say those leaders (B. and G.) are fools. Their intentions are sinister. Thier hidden agenda or mission is hostile and deliberately destructive. Their brainwashed followers are more likely to be just fools, though even they are motivated to some extent by resentment or hostility toward mainstream conservatism.
