General Milley needs to be court martialed

Milley’s idea was to leave behind hundreds of Americans, bring in hundreds of Islamic terrorists, abandon tens of billions in weapons and massive state-of-the-art air bases - and create the first terrorist state.
During the Trump administration, Milley had made a point of boasting that he would defy orders he considered wrong. An act of treason. Then Milley enabled Biden’s disgraceful surrender in Afghanistan.
Milley betrayed his country. He betrayed his oath to defend the Constitution. He should be court-martialed and sentenced to a long term in federal prison. Everyone responsible for America’s humiliating defeat in Afghanistan is guilty of the same betrayals and ought to face impeachment or court martials and jail time.
In these surreal times under the Biden administration, there is now talk that military personnel who refuse to be vaccinated may face court martials. Can it be that Milley, who lost a war and the lives of 13 of our heroes, who surrendered Kabul and American hostages to the Taliban, won’t face a court martial for his actions?

All too probably!

Yes, he should be court martialed, and executed for treason. But he’s a hero, a man after John Brennan’s own heart! What scum they are.

Nail hit on head, Liz! Scum is the right word for them.

Yeah, but treason is not exactly what they did. They behaved incompetently and cowardly. They were following their Commander In Chief’s orders and in that respect did not commit treason, even though we reason that they betrayed their troops and friends and fellow citizens.

" §2381. Treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."

Splitting hairs. And besides, how do you know he was just “following orders”? If he stated before that if Trump gave him orders he didn’t agree with, he would refuse to do them, then he surely must have been in agreement with Biden’s.

Try telling that to any lawyer representing him, if any other lawyer would be willing to take on the case for prosecution of treason. Treason has a very specific definition.

I would just like to see him booted out.

Well, of course, the difference between what he did and how his lawyer portrayed it would be huge.
And of course it will never happen, anyway. Oh well…

I understand, Liz, but they must follow the specific definition of treason, because it is a very, very serious charge. I don’t think treason has been committed by any of them according to the legal definition. Courts Martial may be the best way to go, but I am sure that anyone so charged would be given the option (because…) to resign instead.

I suspect that inside himself, he and others know they have betrayed all Americans. Maybe that will eat at their souls. Or at least make them hide under a rock for the rest of their lives. No doubt they will get a book offer instead.

Their actions have changed the way Americans view military sacrifice and terribly damaged troop moral. How dare they? Shame, shame, shame…

They gave “aid and comfort” to our enemies, by giving them control of our bases, equipment, a “kill list”, the release of terrorist prisoners, and failing to evacuate civilians or protect our own troops from them, which resulted in the death of our own troops, and hundreds of civilians.
It will also result in the increase of terrorism all over the world, including on U.S. soil.
If that’s not treason, I don’t know what is.

That is going to end with the buck on Biden’s desk. He is the Commander In Chief. It is absolutely President Biden’s fault. What anyone in the military did or did not advise him to do means only a little. They were following orders of their Commander. Even the fact that Milley did not follow President’s Trumps orders, doesn’t alter the facts of this case, and it is this case that any trial for treason would be about. That is my understanding of something that I know little about.

You think Biden will be indicted?
