Does COVID-19 Cause Myocarditis And Pericarditis?

This is a very important question, because we have been repeatedly told by the media that it does, increasing general anxiety about the risks from COVID-19, but according to this study it seems the answer is no, there is no increased risk of these heart conditions following infection with COVID-19:

The Incidence of Myocarditis and Pericarditis in Post COVID-19 Unvaccinated Patients—A Large Population-Based Study

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9025013/

Quote:

Our data suggest that there is no increase in the incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis in COVID-19 recovered patients compared to uninfected matched controls. Further longer-term studies will be needed to estimate the incidence of pericarditis and myocarditis in patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

The authors declare no conflict of interest.

The UK Government has also repeated the claim, citing studies that they say support the claim:

Quote:

It is now recognised that COVID-19 infection can lead to myocarditis or pericarditis and in one retrospective study, 5% of patients developed new onset myocarditis and 1.5% pericarditis within a 6 month period following COVID-19 infection .

This question is even more significant in light of this reported increase in cases of SADS in young adults:

“Sudden Adult Death Syndrome baffles doctors”

Quote:

‘Most scientists think SADS is caused by a heart condition that interferes with the heart’s electrical system.’

“…has doctors baffled…” Well I guess when you’ve been paid to wear blinders, the existence of the monster staring you right in the face would be “baffling”.
