Divided we stand

We’re ripe for a breakup. The bitter partisan animosities, the legislative gridlock, the growing acceptance of violence in the name of political virtue—it all invites us to think that we’d be happier were we two different countries. In all the ways that matter, save for the naked force of law, we are already two nations.

How it can be done:

This is really an intriguing idea, but would it really work as he supposes? Hard to tell.
If it did, it would probably be worth it.
But would it weaken the power of the U.S.?
One good that might come of it would be that the Socialist States would fail so miserably that they would finally see the error of their ways and decide to re-enter the union.

Yes, but I think a civil war would do the same thing - weaken America. It would be the perfect opportunity for our enemies to attack us, too.
I just don’t see that as being a viable option.

Yes, I agree. The longer China is appeased, the worse the outcome will be later.
And yes, Trump should not have accepted the rigged election results, which was in fact a coup.

It will be difficult for parts of some blue states to remove themselves. It is our cities that are usually bluest, with the rural sections red to purple. The Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia and perhaps Southern Delaware could form Delmarva, which is a long standing term for all of us in that area. But we would exist in the center of blue states. I suspect there will be other red areas in the centers of states. So…they form an enclave independent of the blue state and align with the nearest red state?

What to do with the people that own land and businesses in blue states? Abandon them as they are stuck by their history and geography? Not everything is movable? People are more complicated than red and blue.

I do not want to see my country devolve into civil war. Of course any such notion of divorce, succession or civl war weakens us and leaves us way open to attack.

This article is like the person whose theories look okay on paper, but when flesh and blood and real lives and psyches are involved, not to mention property and treasure and history, family and community…everything gets really messy really fast.

Yes, good points. Even the big cities in Texas are becoming dominated by democrats.

No, no, no! We do not want to initiate a war with China.

The world does not want us to initiate a war with China.

What we owe our children and grandchildren is a way to peace if at all possible, safe borders, strong government, conservative values and a strong economy independent of those that would “own” us. What we owe our progeny is to rid America of the cancer of the Left/Progressives/Communists and those that would like to “fundamentally transform America.”

We should definitely be prepared for it, but not initiate it. “Walk softly and carry a big stick”!

Yes, we should defend ourselves. That’s the shame of it - we haven’t defended ourselves from the enemy within for the last 50 years, and they’ve taken over, by perverting the system, because of it.

We are in a new Cold War with China and yes, we should have continued to prepare with military buildup and sanctions against China and let them know that we would war to win, to defeat them…should it come to that. But Trump did not intend to initiate a war with the other global power. I agree that if we want peace, we should prepare for war…but not seek a war out in order to smack down an upstart super power when there are other means to do so. Trump was on that road.

Under the Democrat Communists, all China has to do is wait until they have weakened the US in every possible way and then Russia and China can divide what Trump would have made great again.

And, hopefully, will do again with the help of other determined leaders that love America and love our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
