Civil Asset Forfeiture is not only illegal, but as absolutely unconstitutional as it is possible to be- And it’s happening more and more- I had no idea it had moved from the Road Pirates thieving, to the realm of ‘every day life’ such as this case here- I do not recall such a thing EVER being any kind of legal, without extraordinary circumstances, like Pablo Escobar sort of stuff- and even then, i recall they had to get some kind of special permission to steal all his money- this is also as morally wrong as it’s possible to be,a nd clearly un American, as well.
Well, it’s going to keep happening until we revolt, I guess.
And it is coming, no question.
I’ve heard about this. I don’t know how in the world it was ever allowed to become legal - it’s criminal!
As near as I can find, it is NOT in any way ‘legal’. In fact, the Patriot Act is not ‘legal’, either, but until WE have more guys w guns then THEY do, it will continue to be used, both of these. Too many people benefit from them, is the problem. I stand by my oft stated belief that only the Bullet, and NOT the Ballot, will ever change any of this. The sooner we get to it, the better, imo. It’s only going to get harder, the longer we all wait.
There must have been some law passed, tho, that made it “legal” enough for them to get away with doing it. One of those ones that went under the radar at the time, and now we see the unforseen consequences playing out, just like we’re seeing the consequences now of the Patriot Act.
Well, my point is, that the Constitution and Bill of Rights are SUPPOSED TO- ALWAYS TRUMP ANY ‘LAW’- PERIOD. And Now, Suddenly, they are not. The Patriot Act is Illegal on THAT Basis ALONE- As is whatever legal fuckery they claim validates asset forfeiture. The fact that BOTH, in their entireties, are CLEARLY Unconstitutional, SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO HAVE THEM STRUCK DOWN. And at one time, they would have been.
Yes, just as all the emergency measures, violations of free speech, and violations of bodily autonomy and medical privacy they are now imposing are unconstitutional.
