I often find myself only half agreeing with Brendan O’Neill but for once I think he’s got the correct measure of what’s going on in Europe right now:

Brendan O’Neill is right to be appalled by the extreme authoritarianism spreading through the EU member states. Germany and Austria are reverting to type. It’s a little more surprising that France and the Netherlands are choosing tyranny.

Yes, it is terrifying. It’s as if the Nazis have returned, only now Dr. Mengele is at the forefront.
And just as so many countries collaborated with the Nazis, many are collaborating with this.
