To adequately chronicle Newsom’s feckless destruction of opportunities for ordinary Californians would require volumes. The teachers union has ruined public education. The “renewables” industry, importing wind turbines from Germany and solar panels from China, has made energy unreliable, unaffordable, and unsustainable. The housing market, crippled by overregulation, delayed and denied permits, and excessive costs for building materials, has driven people out of the state, or onto the streets, or into near poverty as they struggle to pay their rent and their mortgages.
Among all the major states in America, California has the highest rate of economic inequality, the highest numbers of homeless, the highest taxes, crime-ridden cities, and district attorneys that won’t prosecute criminals. Rather than face any of this dysfunction, Newsom and his cohorts bloviate over issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion, along with climate change, and deride their critics as bigots and “deniers". Gavin Newsom owns all of this and more, and yet, by today’s reckoning, he is the best the Democrats can do.
Trump is the polar opposite of anti-growth Newsom. If reelected, he would revive the policies of his first term to galvanize American manufacturing, energy production, housing construction, resource extraction, and law enforcement. His policies would adhere to common sense, instead of green fantasies promoted by special interests that profit from scarcity. Trump would also have the temerity to broker peace accords in the world.
If this match-up actually happens, barring election fraud, it will be the biggest wipeout in history, with Newsom being the loser.
Of course, without the voter fraud, that’s also what would have happened in '20 with Trump vs. Biden.
Ah, if only I had been successful two years ago in assembling a team of ‘Republican Grandmothers’, growing it to a couple of hundred patriots, teaching them how to use social media, and VPNs as a ‘force multiplier’ … we wouid now be preparing for a powerful “KEEP JOE!!!” grassroots campaign to prevent the Dems from dumping Biden.
Or, if they appeared dead set on doing that – they’re not stupid – a BACK KAMALA!!! campaign would be appropriate – hitting anyone who objected to this as anti-woman and anti-Black.
It’s what they are doing to us, to undermine our potential victory in November. (See new post on ‘Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory – How the Enemy May Win in November’
You do have a strong pedagogic urge, Doug!
Well, my personal experience, plus my reading, has shown me what a well-organized group of dedicated people can do – even if it starts out small.
I see what appear to me to be various weak spots in the enemy lines … and I want to attack. Or I see ways we can strengthen our side, and I want do try to do that.
Hey, I’m an old guy. I’ve reached the point where Sophocles said he felt like he had been set free from a cruel and insane master. He was talking about that drive that has been put into all males by natural selection. Now, in me, it’s sublimated.
We atheist conservatives are a lot more rational in our thinking than our fellow religious conservatives. We ought to be more effective in doing something to defeat the Left.
But no one knows everything, and all of us probably ‘know’ things that are not so. If we can talk and discuss and argue among ourselves, we can probably come up with a better understanding of social reality in the US, and how to influence it, than any one of us could by him/her self.
Sorry if I’m a pain in the tcchus.
You are a boon to this Forum. Even if - or largely because - some of us disagree with you now and then.
As you say, or imply, disagreement can be very productive.
I was so happy to find this forum, which I did by pure accident. (Or maybe it was the hand of God.) I’ve been on several conservative forums, and they all seem to be dominated or at least strongly influenced by fundamentalists. It’s hard to have a rational conversation or argument with people who think we’re just bit-part actors in a grand play put on by God and Satan.
We need more people here! (And I’ve got a plan for that!)
