No, Yazmin. It is not true. Far from it.
John Chrysostom, 4th century Archbishop of Constantinople, was one of the great Jew-haters of Christian history. See his “Homilies Against the Jews”.
And many terrible pogroms were carried out in Orthodox Russia.

I recently read here that even though some of the Emperors and Priests tried to convert the Jews to Christianity, they still thrive in the Byzantine Empire and were treated less bad than the pagans.

That is a reasonably reliable source. And that they were treated “less badly than the pagans” is not unbelievable. However, “less badly” could still have been bad. And was.
